Namaskram meine Lieben :)
Nach einer etwas längeren Zeit melde ich mich
wieder! Leider gab es hier bedingt durch einen Zyklon ein paar Probleme mit dem
Internet und der Tastatur, welche durch den Regen kaputt gegangen ist. Deshalb
habe ich auch nichts mehr hier hochladen können.
Seit Anfang November wohnt Elisa, eine
Freundin unseres Gastbruders mit im Freiwilligenhaus. Sie bleibt bis Ende
Dezember hier und unterstützt meine Gastmutter in der Schule. Danach reist sie
noch und macht ein zwei monatiges Praktikum an einer Privatuni in Bangalore.
Elisa kommt auch aus Deutschland und hat mit meinem Gastbruder einen
Freiwilligendienst in Italien gemacht.
Es ist schön die Weihnachtszeit zu dritt auf
ein wenig „deutsche“ Weise zu feiern. Wir haben auch unseren ganz persönlichen
indischen Adventskranz gebastelt. Mit Blumen und ganz wundervollen Kerzen. ;)
Außerdem haben wir noch ganz viele Pläne was wir mit den Kindern in der Schule
in der Adventszeit für Aktionen machen wollen. Wir wollen zum Beispiel ein
Krippenspiel mit der vierten und fünften Klasse einstudieren und Fröbelsterne
basteln. Außerdem wollen wir den Kindern ein paar Weihnachtslieder beibringen
und diese dann bei einer Weihnachtsfunction die Kinder vorsingen lassen.
Es ist also noch wirklich viel zu tun bis
Weihnachten. Weiter versuchen wir auch noch für alle aus unserer Gastfamilie
Geschenke zu finden und uns in Weihnachtsstimmung zu bringen. Für Weihnachten
wollen wir versuchen Klöße und Rotkohl zu machen um Usha und den anderen zu
zeigen, was ein typisch deutsches Weihnachtsessen ist. Ich werde dann natürlich
hier berichten was aus unseren ganzen Plänen geworden ist.
Aber nochmal zurück zum Zyklon, der hat mir
nämlich das Leben echt schwer gemacht. Ihr müsst euch vorstellen, dass es hier
wirklich 2 Wochen durchgeregnet hat und wirklich alles nass war! Die Betten
waren nass und klamm, die Wäsche wurde einfach nicht trocken und wenn doch dann
roch sie als hätte man die nasse Wäsche Tage lang in der Ecke liegen gehabt.
Außerdem wurden die Straßen fast unbegehbar, weil der ganze Schlamm sie in
Rutschpisten verwandelt hat.
Am zweiten Wochenende im November war ich dann
mit Elisa und Nele in Bangalore, wo wir auch wieder gecouchsurft haben. Wir
waren bei einem super netten Ehepaar, das sogar ihr Bett für uns geopfert hat.
Ich freue mich immer wieder mal ein richtiges Bett zu haben und warmes Wasser
beim Duschen. In Bangalore waren wir dann shoppen und sind am Abend noch mit
den beiden Essen gegangen. Und ein Tipp der uns sehr geholfen hat war die Uber
App, das ist eine App bei der man sich so etwas wie ein privates Taxi bestellen
kann und das ganze dann per Kreditkarte zahlt. Dies ist nämlich ungefähr
genauso teuer wie Rickscha fahren und man läuft nicht in die Gefahr von dem
Fahrer abgezockt zu werden. Bei uns hat das wirklich gut geklappt und es ist
auch eindeutig komfortabler, vor allem wenn es regnet. Uber soll außerdem in
allen großen Städten gut funktionieren, dass werden Nele und ich dann bestimmt
nochmal testen.
Am ersten Adventswochenende waren Elisa, Nele
und ich dann mit einem Freund von Avinash (dem Sohn von usha der gerade in
Italien ist) in den Hosely Hills. Das sind mehrere Hügel von denen man einen
schönen Ausblick auf die Umgebung hat. Leider war es kalt, hat geregnet und war
nebelig, deshalb war der Ausblick etwas verhangen und ich habe gefroren.

It took me
some time to upload a new blogpost again but here we go. Because of a cyclone
and a damaged keyboard (the rain destroyed it) I could not upload anything on
here.
At the
moment Elisa, a friend of my host brother is living in the volunteer house as
well. She stays till the end of December and supports my host mother in school.
After that she we travel and make an internship at a private university for two
months. Elisa comes from Germany and did a volunteer year in Italy where she
met Avinash (who is now studying in Italy).
It is nice
that we can celebrate the Christmas time together in a “german” way. We even
crafted a Christmas wreath with flowers and BEAUTIFUL candles. ;) Besides we
have many ideas what we can do with the children in school. With the 4th
and 5th we want to do a nativity play and craft some “Fröbelsterne”,
as well as practicing some Christmas songs with all the children. They will
sing them on the Christmas function.
So there
are many things to do till Christmas. We also have to find Christmas presents
for all the members of our host family and we try to get in the Christmas mood.
For Christmas we want to cook some German Christmas dinner like “Klöße” and
“Rotkohl”. I will report how all of our plans went.
But I want
to come back to the cyclone. You have to imagine that it rained through nearly
2 weeks! Everything was wet: the beds, the air and the clothes. Especially the
clothes where a big problem because they could not dry properly they were
smelling like you put the wet clothes in a corner and forgot it. Furthermore
the roads were so slippery that you can hardly walk on them.
On the
second weekend in November is was in Bangalore with Elisa and Nele where we
couchsurft again. We were hosted by a super friendly married couple who even
gave us their bed. It is crazy how I enjoy sleeping in a real bed and having a
warm shower. In Bangalore we went shopping and in the evening we went to a
restaurant with our hosts. A tip which really helped us out is the Uber app.
This is an app where you can order a private taxi on your phone. It costs as
much as a rickscha and is much safer because you pay with credit card and there
is a fixed price per km. Besides you can’t be sure if the rickscha drivers try
to cheat you. For us it was working really good and it is much more
comfortable, especially when it’s raining. I think it is working in all the
bigger cities and I think Nele and I will try it again when we are travelling.
At the
first Advent weekend Elisa, Nele and I went to see the Hosely Hills with a
friend of Avinash. The hosely Hills are hills where you have a beautiful view
over the landscape. Unfortunately when we there it was raining, cold and foggy.
That made the view a bit less beautiful but I liked it.
